The History of Giant Pizza......

After years of working in the mills Feta “Frank” Abdullovski and his brother Ferik Abdullovski started looking for a new opportunity. Frank had a knack for cooking, while Ferik had a good understanding of business, so together the two brothers decided to go into the restaurant business. In 1986 they bought Giant Pizza, a small 900 square foot take-out pizza shop in Danielson, CT.

Giant Pizza already had a great reputation in the community and it wasn't long before Frank and Ferik enhanced that reputation. However soon after, conflicts arose between the brothers and after four years they decided to split on good terms. Frank stuck with Giant Pizza in Danielson, while Ferik opened his own successful place in Massachusetts.

Frank and wife Nancy knew the pizza business wasn't going to be easy, but they worked hard 7 days a week and it showed, Giant Pizza was growing. For many customers they didn't have to think twice, pizza on Friday nights meant Giant Pizza. In 1990, noticing the high demand and large crowds on Friday nights, the line often out the door, Frank decided to expand and add a new dining room. Today many parents could tell you how they remember in high school going to Giant Pizza after every football game; and now their children are doing the same. Giant Pizza is a local favorite in the Killingly community and with the high school. In fact, in 1995 the Killingly High School Redmen football team was making a run at the state title. In support of the team Frank gave them a pizza party for every game they won that season. That year they ended up winning the state title.

With the new dining room in place, Frank and Nancy decided to add breakfast to the operations and it was an immediate hit. Giant Pizza breakfast did well for five years, but due to health reasons, the Abdullovski's decided not to continue with breakfast. The Abdullovski's continued to operate Giant Pizza successfully for the next ten years but growth had slowed. By 2004 Frank had been at it for 20 years and was approaching retirement; it was time to prepare his strategy for an exit.

At this time Arben Abdullovski, Frank and Nancy's son, was graduating college. Arben saw the great business his parents worked over 20 years building and decided to keep it in the family. In late 2004 Arben was handed over the operations of Giant Pizza.

In early 2005 Giant Pizza went into its first major remodel, which was to improve the kitchen for increased volume, clean up the image, and accommodate the addition of delivery to its services. Later that year Arben added delivery to the Giant Pizza services and it was an immediate success. In fact, in its first half year of offering delivery Giant Pizza successfully delivered over 16,000 orders. From that point forward Giant Pizza has been the leader in their market for take-out and delivery. In early 2006 Giant Pizza went threw a second renovation. This time it was of the main dining room. The purpose was to revamp the image and to add full-service dine-in. Full-service dine-in has been successful ever since. In 2007 Giant Pizza became incorporated with Frank and Arben Abdullovski as shareholders. Since 2004 the company has been growing substantially. In April 2008 Frank and Arben opened their second Giant Pizza location in Willimantic, CT. Every year Giant Pizza sells over 40,000 pizzas just at its Danielson location.

It's the goal of Arben to continue to open more locations and support the people and schools of his community while creating an outstanding reputation like his parents, Frank and Nancy, did in Danielson. Giant Pizza is a family oriented company that believes in its people, its community, and its reputation. Frank's motto with Giant Pizza has always been,

“Work hard, and take pride in your work. We stand by our food and our employees. If the customer is not happy we will take care of them and make it right.”

This philosophy has stuck with the company and is the backbone of the Giant Pizza culture.
